The Luxembourg premier Xavier Bettel has met Romanian PM Sorin Grindeanu on Friday, at Victoria Palace. Grindeanu welcomed Bettel at the Government HQs with military honors.

The Luxembourg premier stated in a press conference with Sorin Grindeanu that there are political crises in all countries, but what is important is to urgently identify a solution to regain stability. Bettel said that he has come to meet Sorin Grindeanu, who is the prime minister in office.

My visit takes place in a moment when what an investor from my country is looking for is missing. I have to be very frank with you. It’s hard to convince an investor in my country to invest in Bucharest, if the question is how will the politics in Romania will go on, who is going to be in office, what will Romania do,” Bettel stated.

There are political crises in all countries, it happens. It’s important for you to regain stability as soon as possible and to have functioning institutions, with partners that we can count on at European level. What we wish for you is to find as quickly as possible not a short-term or medium-term solution, but a long-term one, so that investments and confidence that should exist among partner states, among investors, could be regained,” the visiting premier of Luxembourg pointed out.

In his turn, the Romanian PM was asked how he had explained the current situation to his counterpart, considering he is leading a Cabinet of resigning ministers.

As I told you yesterday, everybody came to work. The political situation will be solved next week, by observing all laws and the Constitution, for this is how a rule of law works. I wish this period of political instability should end as soon as possible, so that we can provide investors with the stability guarantee, for those who want to come to invest in our economy. Providing trust is essential,” PM Grindeanu asserted.

President Klaus Iohannis is also meeting Prime Minister of Luxembourg  at Cotroceni presidential palace in Bucharest today. The two high-ranking officials are also scheduled to pay a visit to Sibiu. Bettel is on a three-day visit to Romania.

“The Romanian President and the Prime Minister of Luxembourg will leave for Sibiu on 17 June, to attend events marking the 10th anniversary of the Luxembourg-Sibiu—European Capitals of Culture moment,” the President’s spokesperson Madalina Dobrovolschi announced.
