The counties of Ilfov, Brasov and Sibiu contribute most to the country’s budget. At the opposite end stand Vaslui and Olt counties. Bucharest is above all counties in this regard. More than RON 43 billion was collected last year from the taxes paid by small and medium taxpayers in Bucharest and Ilfov, according to the Fiscal Administration Authority (ANAF), i.e. 40% of everything that was paid as tax throughout the country. Meanwhile, the central region collected only RON 12.4 billion, according to capital.ro.
Moreover, Bucharest leads also in terms of taxes paid by small taxpayers with over RON 9,300 per capita. Opposite is Vaslui County, with only RON 1,400 per capita.
Top counties that contribute the most: Ilfov: RON 4,630 per capita; Brasov: RON 3,900; Sibiu: RON 3,350.
Most likely, the top should be joined by other developed counties such as Cluj, Timis and Constanta. Yet, the latest data for Cluj were collected in 2015 and revealed contributions of RON 6,200 per capita, for the other counties such statistics are not available.
Top counties that contribute least: Olt: RON 1,614 per capita; Botoşani: RON 1,511; Teleorman: RON 1,505; Vaslui: RON 1,393.
