The lowest temperature this winter: -22 degrees C in Miercurea Ciuc

Meteorologists have announced that the lowest temperature this winter, of minus 22 degrees Celsius, was recorded on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in Harghita County, in Miercurea Ciuc.

On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, around 3.30h, the temperature fell in Miercurea Ciuc to minus 22 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, the sky was cloudless, the temperature dropped and frost was felt in all towns in the county. Thus, in Joseni was recorded a temperature of minus 19 degrees Celsius, in Odorheiu Secuiesc minus 17C, in Topliţa minus 16C and at Bucin station in the mountains minus 15C, adevarul.ro reports.

“In other towns in Transylvania was also a cold night with very cold weather,” said Cristian Grecu, from the Regional Meteorological Centre Sibiu Transilvania Sud, according to News.ro. Low temperatures of minus 20 degrees Celsius were registered in Brasov and Fagaras, Brasov County, in Întorsura Buzau in Covasna County, minus 16 degrees Celsius in Boiţa, Sibiu County and minus 15C in Câmpeni, Alba County. In Mures County the lowest temperature was registered in Batoş of minus 13C.
