German President Joachim Gauck will pay a state visit to Romania next week, during June 20-22. The official programme includes meetings with President Klaus Iohannis, PM Dacian Ciolos but also a visit to Sibiu.
“President of the Germany Federal Republic, Mr. Joachim Gauck and Mrs. Daniela Schadt will pay a state visit to Romania during June 20-22. During his visit in Bucharest, the German president will have political talks with Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis and PM Dacian Ciolos,” Germany’s Embassy in Bucharest informed on Friday.
President Gauck will have a speech “Europe: passion for reason” at the Romania’s National Library on June 21 at the invitation of the ”New Europe College” and Germany’s Embassy in Bucharest.
The German president will also go to Sibiu on June 21 where he will visit the fortified church in Cisnadie together with President Iohannis. The visit is under the patronage that the two presidents have been jointly carrying out since April 2014 over the “Fortified Churches” Foundation, aiming at preserving the cultural heritage of the German minority in Romania.
President Gauck will also meet in Sibiu representatives of the German Democrat Forum in Romania and will visit the City Hall, Bruckenthal High School and the Evangelic Church.
