Over 600 performances and artists from 37 countries at the International Theatre Festival in Sibiu

The Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), the first major festival in Central and Eastern Europe, one of the largest festivals in the world and the largest event dedicated to the performing arts in Romania, will present, during August 20-29, 2021, over 600 events from 37 countries, from all continents, in what will be the most complex edition to date.

Organized under the High Patronage of the Romanian Presidency and with the support of Sibiu City Hall and Sibiu Local Council, FITS will bring together great artists of the world stage, offering the public the opportunity to enjoy some of the most appreciated shows in the world, internationally recognized and rewarded with prestigious awards.

The 2021 edition of FITS, whose theme is a suggestive one – “Building hope together” – will have a triple dimension, physical, hybrid and online.

The Sibiu International Theater Festival aims to build hope together with its audience, in front of which it will present a true royal of the performing arts, with productions of theater, dance, circus, film, musical, opera, book, conferences, exhibitions, performance, music, street performances. Israel Galván Company, Charlotte Rampling, Tokyo Metropolitan Theater, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, María Pagés Compañía are just some of the great artists and big companies in the world that will be part of FITS 2021.Image may be NSFW.

The performances of the Sibiu International Theater Festival will be available in performance halls, in unconventional spaces, in churches, in the central squares of Sibiu and in the spectators’ houses, through the official FITS website, www.sibfest.ro, www.scena- digitala.ro, Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The physical dimension will include performances in theaters, outdoor spaces and other locations where performances with audiences are scheduled. To this component will be added the hybrid version, in which the indoor shows, with public, will be broadcast live, through five streaming teams in cinemas, and in other spaces in Sibiu and in the country, in all areas where those responsible locals want a partnership with FITS. To these two components is added the third dimension, the online one, through which productions specially adapted for the digital area will be available to theater lovers.

Tickets will be on sale starting July 22, on www.sibfest.ro and through the Entertix platform, with prices between 20 lei and 150 lei, for physical performances.Many of the events that are part of the program of the International Theater Festival in Sibiu will be offered free of charge to the public. FITS keeps the tradition of large performances in open spaces, where public access will be free, and will additionally broadcast, online, a series of shows with free access.
